Absolutely, our digital design tool works great even for custom-made wrought-iron railings. You enter your measurements and selections directly into the configurator and get an exact price per meter in real time, which also serves as a quote for your specific project.
The price of an aluminum wrought-iron railing is primarily determined by the railing’s total length, height, and the specific design choices you make in the configurator. Since aluminum is a cost-effective material compared to genuine wrought iron, you get a very affordable solution that is also maintenance-free.
Our Retro aluminum wrought-iron railing is available in several popular standard colors, such as black, white, and gray. In addition, we can often offer powder coating in any RAL color of your choice so that the railing will match your home’s window trim or doors exactly.
Maintenance for an aluminum wrought-iron railing is minimal. The powder-coated surface can be easily cleaned with a soft cloth, lukewarm water, and a mild detergent as needed. You won’t have to sand and repaint it at regular intervals, as you would with a traditional steel wrought-iron railing.

Our wrought-iron railings are designed for you to install yourself. The parts are delivered as ready-made, custom-fit sections that are screwed onto the posts and anchored to the subfloor. We provide clear instructions and videos that show every step of the process.
The biggest difference lies in maintenance and weight. Genuine wrought iron is very heavy and requires regular sanding and repainting to prevent rusting. Our wrought-iron-style aluminum railing offers exactly the same visual appeal but is completely rust-free and virtually maintenance-free. It’s also significantly easier to handle during installation, making it a smarter choice for most private homes.
Absolutely. Aluminum is perfectly suited for the Nordic climate, with its snow, rain, and wide temperature fluctuations. The material doesn’t rust, and our powder coating has been tested to withstand both moisture and cold without cracking.
An aluminum railing requires significantly less maintenance than a wooden railing, which needs to be repainted, or a stainless steel railing, which can develop surface rust.

The railing is always custom-made to your measurements and comes as a complete kit with pre-drilled parts, screws, and mounting hardware. The aluminum's light weight makes it easy to handle—even if you've never installed a railing before.

In our design tool, you can customize the railing to suit your needs. You choose the color (black, white, or any shade from the RAL color chart), the mounting method (on top, on the outside, or with a base), and whether you want a crossbar—in aluminum, wood, or none at all.
Would you like to enhance the decorative look of a wrought-iron railing? Add ornaments in the shape of spheres or arrows. These can also be added later if you want to adjust the look after the fact.

Once you've placed your order, you'll have access to our installation videos. They show you how to install the railing step by step—based on the specific choices you made in the configurator.
Retro is manufactured at our production facility in Ängelholm. By handling both design and manufacturing in-house, we have full control over quality, strength, and the safety requirements that apply to railings in exposed environments. Each order is customized according to your specifications and comes with a declaration of performance.
The manufacturing process is certified in accordance with EN 1090-1 and complies with the Eurocodes applicable to load-bearing aluminum construction products. Production is continuously monitored by RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), which is responsible for external verification of traceability and the manufacturing process.
In addition, we conduct our own load and impact tests to ensure that every railing functions properly—regardless of where it is installed. Retro is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, in both private and public settings.

Load-tested posts
The posts have been tested with top and exterior fastenings on wooden substrates and can withstand a load of 0.5–1.0 kN/m.

We offer the option to have Alu Retro powder-coated in three standard colors: textured gray, textured black, and textured white. In addition to the options above, you can choose to have your aluminum railing with balusters painted in any RAL color.
Square 50×50 mm

Standard intermediate rail
Standard intermediate rail, without top rail: The intermediate rail is placed 75 mm (cc) from the edge of the posts (railing with top rail) or 120 mm (cc) from the edge of the posts (railing without top rail).
Taller intermediate rail
Taller intermediate rail, with top rail: The intermediate rail is placed at the edge of the bars. Both versions meet the requirements of the building code.

Wooden Crossbeam
Molded crossbeam in untreated light oak or jatoba (a hardwood with properties and an appearance similar to teak).
Angles
If there are any corners on the railing, cut the wooden crossbar to size yourself. This ensures a precise fit. Both wood and aluminum can be cut with a standard miter saw. If you choose an aluminum crossbar and the corner is 90 degrees, no cutting is required.
Symmetrical Sections
When you enter your measurements in our configurator, you always enter the edge measurements at the location where you want the railing installed. Our configurator then makes the necessary adjustments. We then customize the section dimensions for your railing so that each section on each side is the same length. In other words, we adapt the railing to your measurements—not the other way around.
Selectable railing height
In the configurator, you can select the height of your railing, ranging from 800 to 1100 mm, measured from the floor to the top of the railing. According to Boverket standards, railings must be 1100 mm high in areas where the risk of a fall exceeds 3 meters.
—Customized to the Millimeter
When you provide your measurements, we ask that you be precise to the millimeter. We craft your railing to the millimeter so that it fits perfectly in the spot where you want to install it.
Mounting on top of
The base is secured to the floor with 4 screws.
External Mounting
The post is secured with 2 screws on the side, directly against the mounting surface.
Selectable Mounting Heights
If you choose surface mounting, you also have the option to select the mounting height. You can have the post extend downward by 350 mm, 250 mm, 195 mm, or 145 mm. If possible, a larger dimension is preferable. The mounting height may affect the number of sections per side.
Wood Screw
If you choose to mount the product on a wooden surface, screws for this purpose are included. The screw is made of hardened steel and, for outdoor use, is also surface-treated with Corrseal—Corrosivity Class C4. The screw features a milled groove along the shank and one at the tip. This results in a very low screw-in torque in harder wood and minimizes cracking.
Concrete Mounting Screw
If you choose to mount the product on a concrete surface, screws for this purpose are included. The screw is made of hardened steel and, for outdoor use, is also surface-treated with Corrseal—Corrosion Class C4. Approved for use in cracked concrete, uncracked concrete, and hollow-core slabs.
Also suitable for solid brick, perforated brick, solid Mexi brick, and natural stone. When mounting in materials other than wood or concrete, we recommend contacting your local hardware store.
Top rail with or without wall mounting
If the railing is mounted on a wall, you can also choose to mount the top rail to the wall. This can result in a slightly more stable structure.
Everything is included with your order
Our shipment includes everything you need for assembly. In addition to the posts and crossbars, it also includes all screws, drill bits, and sockets, as well as any special tools. As long as you have a screwdriver, a wrench, a folding rule, and a level, you really don’t need anything else.

Aluminum Components
Aluminum posts and other components require minimal maintenance. If stains appear, a mild detergent, water, and a soft cloth are usually sufficient. Do not use products with abrasive properties, acids, or alkaline agents.
Wooden Handrail Crossbar
If the railing is to be installed outdoors, we recommend cleaning the crossbar and then sanding it with fine-grit sandpaper. Treat the crossbar with a wood preservative, such as wood oil or a similar product, depending on the prevailing conditions. For indoor installation, only cleaning and light sanding are required. You may treat it with wood oil or a similar product if you wish.
When you’re assembling your railing, the usage class (A+, A, B, or C) provides an indication of where the railing is suitable for use. The classes are based on current building codes and our own product tests, and take into account the choices you’ve made regarding railing height, section width, details, and so on. You can think of the class as a recommendation to help you make the right choice!
Class A+
An A+-rated railing meets the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s requirements for railings where the fall height exceeds 3 meters from floor level to ground level, and is therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments as well as public spaces such as offices, restaurants, and stores. Our A+-rated railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 1 kN/m, and where the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact.
Class A
A Class A railing meets the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s requirements for railings where the fall height exceeds 3 meters from floor level to ground level, and is therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments. Our Class A railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 0.5 kN/m, and where the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact.
Class B
Class B railings are suitable for use in environments where the height difference between the floor and the ground is 0.5–3 meters. Our Class B railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 0.5 kN/m, and when the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent personal injury in the event of an impact.
Class C
Class C railings are suitable for use at ground level. If the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact. A railing may also be classified as Class C if Balustrade Store , in consultation with you as the customer, makes a modification to the railing that deviates from our standard design. In such cases, the Class C classification indicates that this specific configuration has not been tested.
