Yes. Aluminum can easily withstand normal residential loads and is designed for patios, balconies, and stairs.
Aluminum expands only slightly in response to temperature changes and is not affected by frost or strong sunlight. The powder coating protects the color from fading.
No. Aluminum does not rust like steel. It forms a protective oxide layer that prevents corrosion and makes the railing very durable for outdoor use.
We use only laminated safety glass in our glass railings with aluminum posts. It consists of two panes of glass with a tough plastic interlayer; if the glass were to break, the interlayer holds the shards together so that no one falls through or is injured. For exposed locations or great heights, we also offer tempered laminated glass, which provides extra strength against wind and impact.
No, our systems are designed to be easy to install yourself. Everything is delivered made-to-measure, and we include clear instructions and videos that guide you through each step. No special tools are required beyond what a typical DIYer usually has in their toolbox.
The biggest advantages are the combination of functionality and aesthetics. You get a virtually maintenance-free system that withstands the elements, while the glass acts as a windbreak and allows you to enjoy the view from your patio or balcony. It also gives your home a modern and exclusive look.
A railing from Balustrade Store is a long-term investment with an exceptionally long service life. Aluminum and acid-resistant stainless steel (AISI 316) are extremely durable materials that do not rot or weather away. With proper installation and a certain amount of regular maintenance, you can expect the railing to last for several decades while retaining both its function and appearance.
When buying a balcony railing, the price is most heavily influenced by the choice of material (aluminum is often the least expensive, while stainless steel and post-free glass are the most expensive), the total length of the railing, and the choice of glass (clear glass is less expensive than frosted or tinted glass). Optional features such as wooden crossbars or custom colors for the posts also factor into the final cost.

Sense is an aluminum glass railing that can be customized with a choice of colors and glass—so it fits your style and the conditions of the space.
You can see right away in the configurator how your choices affect the appearance.
Tempered glass is available for all types of glass
Sense is an aluminum railing system in which the glass is mounted directly into the post profile instead of using clamps. The design creates clean lines without any protruding parts. The system is based on round aluminum posts and is delivered as a custom-sized kit containing pre-cut posts, glass, and rubber strips for securing the glass.
The system allows for wide glass sections, which reduces the number of posts and provides good visibility. The railing is designed for both outdoor and indoor environments.
Installing a glass railing with round aluminum posts is a job that can be done without special tools. Sense is installed in stages: first, the posts are secured to the substrate, and then the glass panels are inserted into the posts’ built-in tracks according to the instructions.

Sense is manufactured at our facility in Ängelholm. By handling both design and production in-house, we ensure that every railing is of high quality and meets the safety requirements for load-bearing construction products made of aluminum and glass. Each order is customized according to your specifications and comes with a declaration of performance.
The manufacturing process is certified in accordance with EN 1090-1 and complies with applicable Eurocodes for load-bearing capacity and performance. Production is continuously monitored by RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), which is responsible for external verification of traceability, quality, and the manufacturing process.
In addition, we conduct our own tests to ensure that the materials, fasteners, and glass maintain the proper quality over time.
Here you'll find technical specifications, dimensions, installation instructions, and performance declarations for Sense.

Load-tested posts
The posts have been tested with top and external fastenings on wooden substrates and can withstand a load of 0.5 kN/m
Round posts, 48⌀
The posts are round, and the glass is recessed into the post. The diameter is 48 mm.
Surface coating: 20 µm
Our aluminum profiles are anodized. This is the same principle used on the mast of a sailboat, which is resistant to wind and weather.
Sheet thickness: 2 mm
8.76 mm laminated glass
Two 4-millimeter glass panes with a plastic film in between. If the glass were to break, the plastic film would keep the pieces held together as a single unit. Comes with ground and polished edges.
8.76 mm tempered laminated glass
Same construction as our standard laminated glass, but with two tempered glass panes instead. We recommend this glass for environments where the railing may be exposed to repeated external stresses. Comes with ground and polished edges.
Glass Options (Color)
When you design your railing, you also choose the type of glass you want. You can choose between clear glass or tinted slats in gray or opal (tinted or frosted film between the glass panels).
Aluminum glass trim
A U-shaped aluminum profile (14×12 mm) is attached to the side of the glass with adhesive. Surface coating: 20 µ. The profile comes fully assembled; you then slot it into the post and screw it in place.
Symmetrical Sections
When you enter your measurements in our configurator, you always enter the edge measurements at the location where you want the railing installed. Our configurator then makes the necessary adjustments. We then customize the section dimensions for your railing so that each section on each side is the same length. In other words, we adapt the railing to your measurements—not the other way around.
Selectable railing height
In the configurator, you can select the height of your railing, ranging from 800 to 1100 mm, measured from the floor to the top of the railing. According to Boverket standards, railings must be 1100 mm high in areas where the risk of a fall exceeds 3 meters.
—Customized to the Millimeter
When you provide your measurements, we ask that you be precise to the millimeter. We craft your railing to the millimeter so that it fits perfectly in the spot where you want to install it.
Complete Construction Kits
Our shipment includes everything you need for assembly. In addition to the posts and glass, it also includes all screws, drill bits, and any special tools. As long as you have a screwdriver, a wrench, a folding rule, and a level, you really don’t need anything else.
Assembly Videos and Instructions
The videos show various steps to help you with your assembly. Our assembly tips and videos are customized for each order. In other words, these are not general descriptions but are tailored specifically to your order.
Mounting on top of the
The base is secured to the floor with 3 screws.
Wood Screw
If you choose to mount the product on a wooden surface, screws for this purpose are included. The screw is made of hardened steel and, for outdoor use, is also surface-treated with Corrseal—Corrosivity Class C4. The screw features a milled groove along the shank and one at the tip. This results in a very low screw-in torque in harder wood and minimizes cracking.
Screw for Concrete Mounting
If you choose to mount the product on a concrete surface, screws for this purpose are included. The screw is made of hardened steel and, for outdoor use, is also surface-treated with Corrseal—Corrosivity Class C4. Approved for use with cracked concrete, uncracked concrete, and hollow-core slabs.
Also suitable for solid brick, hollow brick, solid Mexi brick, and natural stone. When fastening to materials other than wood or concrete, we recommend contacting your local hardware store.
Aluminum Components
Aluminum posts and other components require minimal maintenance. If stains appear, a mild detergent, water, and a soft cloth are usually sufficient. Do not use products with abrasive properties, acids, or alkaline agents.
Glass
Clean glass surfaces with a window and mirror cleaner and a soft cloth. For stubborn stains, rubbing alcohol may be used. Then clean again with a window and mirror cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners on glass.
When you’re assembling your railing, the usage class (A+, A, B, or C) provides an indication of where the railing is suitable for use. The classes are based on current building codes and our own product tests, and take into account the choices you’ve made regarding railing height, section width, details, and so on. You can think of the class as a recommendation to help you make the right choice!
Class A+
An A+-rated railing meets the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s requirements for railings where the fall height exceeds 3 meters from floor level to ground level, and is therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments as well as public spaces such as offices, restaurants, and stores. Our A+-rated railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 1 kN/m, and where the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact.
Class A
A Class A railing meets the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s requirements for railings where the fall height exceeds 3 meters from floor level to ground level, and is therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments. Our Class A railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 0.5 kN/m, and where the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact.
Class B
Class B railings are suitable for use in environments where the height difference between the floor and the ground is 0.5–3 meters. Our Class B railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 0.5 kN/m, and when the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent personal injury in the event of an impact.
Class C
Class C railings are suitable for use at ground level. If the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact. A railing may also be classified as Class C if Balustrade Store , in consultation with you as the customer, makes a modification to the railing that deviates from our standard design. In such cases, the Class C classification indicates that this specific configuration has not been tested.
