The LED version (Sensus LED) features built-in LED lighting in the cassette, which creates ambient lighting on the facade in the evening and also serves as a design element. The rest of the design is identical: the same maximum dimensions (500 × 480 cm), the same mains-powered motor control, and the same fabric options. The LED version also features a completely concealed bottom rail when the awning is retracted.
Yes, that's great. Since the awning is mounted vertically and runs along guide rails on both sides of the frame, the design works just as well over a balcony door as it does over a fixed window. For extra-wide or extra-tall openings, choose the model that best suits your lighting or solar-powered needs.
All models are motorized and come standard with a Somfy Situo iO Pure 1-channel remote control. You can extend and retract the awning with the simple press of a button. The Sensus Solcell is powered by the solar panel’s battery, so it is also controlled wirelessly using the included remote control.
Yes, the fabric can be replaced separately without having to replace the entire awning. This extends its lifespan should anything happen to the fabric after several seasons of use, and gives you the opportunity to update its appearance if, for example, you change the color of your facade. Contact us to order new fabric of the same quality as the original delivery.
The price varies depending on width, height, model (Sensus Motor, LED, or Solar), fabric type, and color. Since each awning is custom-made to your specifications, you’ll see the exact price right in the configurator once you’ve selected the size, model, and fabric—no need to request a quote or wait.
Depending on the fabric type, up to 90% of the sun’s heat and glare is blocked before it enters through the window. This is significantly more effective than interior curtains or blinds, which only reduce glare after the heat has already entered the room.
Yes, it reduces visibility from the outside without blocking out natural light—which is useful for ground-floor units, windows facing the street, or balcony doors in apartment buildings. Visibility isn’t completely blocked under all lighting conditions (a lit interior is partially visible in the evening), but in daylight, the effect is noticeable.
Sensus LED is our design option for those who want more than just sun protection. The slim aluminum cassette features built-in LED lighting that illuminates the facade, balcony, or patio after the sun goes down—an atmospheric light source integrated directly into the awning, with no separate fixtures or cables running along the facade. During the day, it provides effective exterior sun protection for the window; in the evening, it casts a soft glow that frames the patio.
The awning is custom-made to your specifications—up to 500 cm wide and 480 cm high—and comes ready to install. The package includes a cassette with integrated LED lighting, fabric, side channels, mounting brackets, and a motor with a remote control. The lighting is controlled separately from the awning itself, so you can turn on the light regardless of whether the awning is down or up.
It’s the details that make Sensus LED a designer vertical awning. The bottom rail is completely hidden when the awning is retracted, creating an uninterrupted, architectural facade line year-round. The cassette is rectangular and slim, with not a single visible screw on the outside, and you can choose from four profile colors to match the look of your facade.
For a standard model without lighting, see Sensus Motor. For a sunshade that operates entirely without electricity, see Sensus Solcell.
Sensus LED is mounted on the exterior of the facade or recessed into the window recess. All brackets, side channels, and fasteners are included, and the exterior of the structure is screw-free. The LED lighting is pre-installed in the cassette—no separate cables or fixtures need to be run along the facade. The awning weighs approximately 7–12 kg per running meter, slightly more than the Sensus Motor because the LED module is integrated, so we always recommend at least two people for installation.
You can install the awning yourself or use our installation service through our partner, Hemfixarna. Since both the motor and the lighting require electricity, the connection must be made to a junction box by a licensed electrician in accordance with the regulations of the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority.
Screws and anchors for installation are included in the delivery. For special surfaces or delicate facade materials, a different mounting method may be required—please contact us if you are unsure. When installing in a recess, make sure the window can still be opened for ventilation without coming into contact with the awning.
Sensus LED is designed in accordance with EN 13561, the European standard for exterior sunshades, and built with extra attention to detail and durability. The built-in LED lighting is CE-marked and designed for outdoor use, with a protective housing that withstands rain, moisture, and seasonal temperature fluctuations. Despite the integrated lighting, the awning retains the full wind resistance of the series. The Zip-Screen design keeps the fabric taut in the side channels and is rated for wind class 8 according to DIN EN 13561, which corresponds to wind speeds of 28.5–32.6 m/s—equivalent to a severe storm—allowing the awning to remain extended even in very windy conditions.*
The aluminum cassette is powder-coated in multiple layers to withstand UV rays, salty coastal air, and Nordic temperature fluctuations without peeling or rusting. The fabrics are supplied by Sandatex, one of Europe’s leading textile manufacturers.
*The windrating applies to standard wall mounting.
Sensus LED is designed to remain installed year-round with minimal maintenance. The fabric is protected by the side channels when the awning is retracted, and the LED module is maintenance-free. Rinse the cassette with lukewarm water and mild soap once per season, and inspect the mounting, screws, and electrical connections at the start of each season.
Below are the technical specifications for Sensus LED, including LED data, cassette dimensions, and color codes. Use this information when planning and configuring your awning. Product sheets, installation instructions, and operating and maintenance instructions are available as PDF files.
A vertical awning on a single-family home normally does not require a building permit, since it is mounted on the exterior of the facade without affecting the load-bearing structure. If the house is located in a culturally protected area or has a K-listed facade, special rules may apply—contact your municipality’s building board in advance. For condominiums and rental properties, approval from the board of directors or the landlord is generally required before installation begins.
