Yes, a post-free glass railing is an excellent choice for a patio where you want to maximize the view. Since there are no posts to block the line of sight, you get an exclusive and open feeling.
When installing on a patio, however, it is especially important that the surface is stable enough to support the heavy glass panels and the sturdy base profile.
A post-free railing provides a completely unobstructed line of sight and an exclusive “floating” feel, but requires thicker glass (often 12.76 mm) and a sturdy bottom profile. A glass railing with posts is a more classic design that is easier to install on various types of surfaces and is often more cost-effective.
It works perfectly. Building a glass railing without a top rail is a major trend for those seeking a minimalist look and a completely unobstructed view. It creates a modern “infinity” feel.
Keep in mind, however, that if you choose not to install a top rail on a railing with posts, stricter requirements apply to the thickness of the glass, and you must select tempered laminated glass to ensure the stability of the railing’s top edge.
We recommend leaving a small air gap under the glass to make cleaning easier.
Please note: According to the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building, and Planning, openings in railings must not exceed 100 mm in areas where children may be present.
Some movement may be normal in a tall glass panel, but if it sways significantly, you should check that all screws and clamps are properly tightened. In extreme winds, adjustable glass panels should always be lowered to their lowest position to reduce wind resistance.
Yes, our post-free glass railings are fully approved and very well suited for outdoor use. The materials in the base profiles are corrosion-resistant, and the glass is designed to withstand wind loads and temperature fluctuations in the Nordic climate.
A post-free glass railing is generally more expensive than a railing with posts. This is because the post-free system requires significantly thicker and heavier glass (often tempered laminated glass) as well as sturdier bottom profiles to maintain stability without the support of posts.
When buying a balcony railing, the price is most heavily influenced by the choice of material (aluminum is often the least expensive, while stainless steel and post-free glass are the most expensive), the total length of the railing, and the choice of glass (clear glass is less expensive than frosted or tinted glass). Optional features such as wooden crossbars or custom colors for the posts also factor into the final cost.

Any RAL colorVista is a glass railing without posts—for those who want a railing that doesn't obstruct the view. With no visible profiles, it creates an open feel, while the glass provides stable protection across level changes.
The railing is constructed of tempered, laminated safety glass and is mounted using discreet fasteners in the substrate, on top of it, or on the outside. The design is determined by the height and mounting of the glass—not by load-bearing posts.

Vista is manufactured at our facility in Ängelholm and is constructed entirely of tempered, laminated safety glass—12.76 mm thick with ground, polished edges. The system is designed to provide stable protection across level differences, while maintaining an open and minimalist look.
Manufacturing complies with the requirements of EN 1090-1 and is continuously monitored by RISE—including checks on the process, traceability, and load-bearing capacity in accordance with the Eurocodes for construction products. Each order is customized according to your specifications and comes with a declaration of performance.
The glass is available in clear, opal, or gray finishes and remains intact even if it breaks. All of our glass railings are tested in-house and in accordance with the Nordic Balcony Association’s guidelines for glass railings in Swedish environments.

20 µm surface coating on the rail
Our aluminum rails are anodized. This is the same principle used on the mast of a sailboat, which is resistant to wind and weather.
Stainless Steel Fixpoints
For exterior installation, we use stainless steel fixpoints. AISI 304 for indoor use and AISI 316 for outdoor use.
Floor Mount
Square aluminum profile posts measuring 50×50 mm with a wall thickness of 2.5 mm. The aluminum profile is anodized with a 20 µm surface coating. This is the same principle used for the mast on a sailboat, which is resistant to wind and weather.
12.76 mm tempered and laminated glass
Two glass panes, each 6 mm thick, with a plastic film in between. If the glass were to break, the plastic film would keep the pieces held together as a single unit. Comes with ground and polished edges.
Glass Options (Color)
When you design your railing, you also choose the type of glass you want. You can choose between clear glass or tinted slats in gray or opal (tinted or frosted film between the glass panels).
Aluminum Top Rail
U-shaped aluminum profile (20×30 mm) that is attached to the top of the glass with adhesive. Surface coating: 20 µ.
Stainless Steel Top Rail
Stainless steel top rail made of AISI 304 or 316, depending on the environment in which the railing will be installed. Mounts on top of the glass with a rubber strip. Ø 42.4 mm.
Wooden Crossbar
Crossbar made of untreated light oak or teak, Ø 45 mm. Attaches to the glass with adhesive.
Angles
For any corners on the railing, stainless steel and aluminum crossbar components are included. Wooden crossbars are cut to size by the customer to ensure a precise fit.
Symmetrical Sections
When you enter your measurements in our configurator, you always enter the edge measurements at the location where you want the railing installed. Our configurator then makes the necessary adjustments. We then customize the section dimensions for your railing so that each section on each side is the same length. In other words, we adapt the railing to your measurements—not the other way around.
Selectable railing height
In the configurator, you can select the height of your railing, ranging from 400 to 1100 mm, measured from the floor to the top of the railing. According to Boverket standards, railings must be 1100 mm high in areas where the risk of falling is greater than 3 meters.
—Customized to the Millimeter
When you provide your measurements, we ask that you be precise to the millimeter. We craft your railing to the millimeter so that it fits perfectly in the spot where you want to install it.
Top rail with rail
The rail is available in lengths up to 5,000 mm. If the required length exceeds this, we will deliver it in multiple sections to ensure your railing is symmetrical.

External Fixpoints
Stainless steel fixpoints that are mounted externally with screw pins. Slightly more stable than the top-mounted version and do not take up any floor space.
Floor Mounting Screw for Concrete
If you choose to mount the product on a concrete surface, screws for this purpose are included. The screw is made of hardened steel and, for outdoor use, is also surface-treated with Corrseal—Corrosion Class C4.
Approved for use in cracked concrete, uncracked concrete, and hollow-core slabs. Also suitable for solid brick, hollow brick, solid Mexi brick, and natural stone. When installing in materials other than wood or concrete, we recommend contacting your local hardware store.
Screw for concrete mounting with aluminum rail
If you choose to mount on a concrete surface, screws for this purpose are included. Our safety expanders are made of stainless steel for outdoor use or hot-dip galvanized for indoor use. The screw is 100 mm long and is installed directly into a pre-drilled hole using a hex key (6 mm), which is, of course, included with your order. Approved for use with reinforced concrete, concrete, solid brick, and stone.
Top rail with or without wall mounting
If the railing is mounted on a wall, you can also choose to mount the top rail to the wall. This can result in a slightly more stable structure.
Mounting on top of
The base is secured to the floor with 4 screws.
External Mounting
The post is secured with 2 screws on the side, directly against the mounting surface.
Available Mounting Heights
If you choose surface-mounted installation, you can also select the mounting height. You can have the post extend downward by either 350 mm or 250 mm. If possible, the longer length is preferable.
Everything is included with your order
Our shipment includes everything you need for assembly. In addition to posts, glass, and crossbars, it also includes all screws, drill bits, and sockets, as well as any special tools. If you have a screwdriver, a wrench, a folding rule, and a level, you really don’t need anything else.

Aluminum Components
Aluminum posts and other components require minimal maintenance. If stains appear, a mild detergent, water, and a soft cloth are usually sufficient. Do not use products with abrasive properties, acids, or alkaline agents.
Glass
Clean glass surfaces with a window and mirror cleaner and a soft cloth. For stubborn stains, rubbing alcohol may be used. Then clean again with a window and mirror cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners on glass.
Wooden Handrail Crossbar
If the railing is to be installed outdoors, we recommend cleaning the crossbar and then sanding it with fine-grit sandpaper. Treat the crossbar with a wood preservative, such as wood oil or a similar product, depending on the prevailing conditions. For indoor installation, only cleaning and light sanding are required. Treatment with wood oil or a similar product can be applied if desired. All oak contains tannic acid in varying amounts, depending on the wood’s moisture content. This is because tannic acid helps prevent the wood from rotting. When your oak crossbar or handrail is exposed to moisture for the first time in an outdoor environment, tannic acid is released, which can cause discoloration on the surface it rests on. Therefore, we recommend oiling the wood or, alternatively, applying oxalic acid during installation to minimize the release of the acid. Oxalic acid can also be used to clean discoloration from the surface. Consult your paint supplier before using oxalic acid. To keep the wood looking its best, we also recommend oiling it once a year.
Stainless Steel Handrail
Since stainless steel, despite its name, is not corrosion-resistant, all stainless steel components must be maintained and cleaned 1–3 times a year. If the railing is installed in a coastal environment, cleaning and treatment may need to be performed more frequently. Clean the surfaces with lukewarm water and a mild detergent using a soft cloth.
When you’re assembling your railing, the usage class (A+, A, B, or C) provides an indication of where the railing is suitable for use. The classes are based on current building codes and our own product tests, and take into account the choices you’ve made regarding railing height, section width, details, and so on. You can think of the class as a recommendation to help you make the right choice!
Class A+
An A+-rated railing meets the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s requirements for railings where the fall height exceeds 3 meters from floor level to ground level, and is therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments as well as public spaces such as offices, restaurants, and stores. Our A+-rated railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 1 kN/m, and where the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact.
Class A
A Class A railing meets the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s requirements for railings where the fall height exceeds 3 meters from floor level to ground level, and is therefore suitable for use in all types of residential environments. Our Class A railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 0.5 kN/m, and where the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact.
Class B
Class B railings are suitable for use in environments where the height difference between the floor and the ground is 0.5–3 meters. Our Class B railings can withstand a minimum linear load of 0.5 kN/m, and when the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent personal injury in the event of an impact.
Class C
Class C railings are suitable for use at ground level. If the railing includes glass, it is safety glass designed to prevent injury in the event of an impact. A railing may also be classified as Class C if Balustrade Store , in consultation with you as the customer, makes a modification to the railing that deviates from our standard design. In such cases, the Class C classification indicates that this specific configuration has not been tested.
