Few parts of a home age as quickly as a fence. It’s exposed to rain, frost, sun, and freezing ground around the clock—and almost always ends up the same way: a few years of good looks, followed by peeling paint, rotting posts, and one weekend per season of maintenance. With our Verto post system, we want to put an end to that cycle once and for all.
Background – Why Choose a Powder-Coated Aluminum Slatted Fence?
For most Swedish homes, the fence serves both as a boundary marker and as part of the home’s appearance—it’s visible from the street, from a neighbor’s window, and from one’s own patio. Despite this, the choice of materials has remained the same for decades: pressure-treated wooden posts that need to be oiled or repainted regularly to prevent them from being damaged by moisture.
We’ve long been grappling with the same challenge that led to the creation of our aluminum railings in the Retro series: how do you preserve the classic aesthetic without forcing the customer to perform annual maintenance? The answer was a post made of powder-coated aluminum—a material that neither rusts, rots, nor fades in the Nordic climate. Verto is the result, designed specifically for those who want to build a modern horizontal-slat fence without compromising on long-term maintenance costs.
Verto in Detail – Integrated Holes and 14 Heights
In its basic form, Verto is a series of powder-coated aluminum fence posts with pre-drilled, integrated holes for horizontal wooden slats. It’s this detail that sets the system apart from a traditional fence design: you avoid the time-consuming task of measuring and marking the spacing for each individual slat, and instead achieve a perfectly symmetrical result along the entire length—whether you’re building a low property boundary or a taller privacy screen.
The posts are manufactured to your exact specifications at our production facility in Ängelholm and are available in 14 different heights, making it easy to adapt the structure to both aesthetic preferences and local building codes. Colors are available across the entire RAL color chart, with black (RAL 9005), anthracite (RAL 7016), and white (RAL 9010) being the most popular choices.
One thing is worth mentioning right away: Verto includes only the fence posts and hardware —you’ll need to purchase the wood separately. This is a deliberate choice on our part, as it gives you complete freedom to choose the type of wood and dimensions that best suit your home. Many people combine the black or anthracite-gray posts with warm larch, timeless cedar, or classic pressure-treated lumber to create the desired look.
Applications – from low property boundaries to tall privacy screens
Since Verto is a post-and-rail system, it works anywhere a picket fence is appropriate. We see five common applications among our customers:
- Balcony railings and wooden decks —boundaries that provide security and style at eye level
- Privacy screens in the garden —protection from neighbors or the street without feeling cooped in
- Windbreaks on the patio —a sheltered spot that extends the outdoor season
- Property Boundary – an elegant fence around the property in any height of your choice
- Screen wall and trellis – decorative division of different areas in the garden
The integrated holes in the posts allow the structure to block the view while letting daylight filter through between the slats, creating a beautiful play of light and shadow and maintaining an open feel in the garden. For those looking for a more minimalist privacy screen with a decorative pattern, our parallel Elements system is an option worth considering.
Building Permits, Height, and Safety According to the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s Guidelines
When planning your fence installation, it’s a good idea to check the local building permit regulations in your municipality. According to the new guidelines from December 2025, fences up to 1.1 meters in height are often exempt from building permits in most municipalities, provided that the structure is see-through. Since Verto is available in 14 different heights, it’s easy to customize your fence so that it complies with local regulations at the property line.
Safety is another important consideration, especially if the fence is to serve as a railing on a deck with a drop-off. According to the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building, and Planning’s recommendations, openings between 110 and 230 mm should be avoided to prevent children from getting their heads stuck. With Verto, the slats are securely fastened in the integrated holes, creating a safe environment for the whole family. For railings with rated fall protection, see our railing guide.
For the installation itself, we recommend a post spacing of 1,400–1,650 mm for optimal stability and a straight fence line. The fastening method is adapted to the substrate—expansion bolts for concrete, specialized wood screws for mounting directly into the deck’s joists—and the post system is available in different variants (edge, joint, and corner) for seamless transitions.
Design Your Fence Online – Verto in the 3D Configurator
Like all our products, Verto is configured online in our 3D configurator, where you can see the price update in real time as you adjust the dimensions, height, color, and number of posts. Choosing a maintenance-free fence with an aluminum frame isn’t just an aesthetic choice—it’s also a smart financial investment. Although the initial cost may be higher than that of a wooden fence, you’ll save money in the long run by avoiding future expenses for paint, stain, and repairs—and, what’s more, a well-maintained, modern fence will increase your property’s overall value over time.
Our full range of fencing products can be found under “Fences and Gates.” Ready to get started? Design your Verto fence using the configurator, or contact us for a project consultation if you ’re planning a larger project.
