White aluminum glass railing for two stories
In this project, a white Forma railing (formerly Alu Classic) was used to frame both the patio and the balcony. The railing consists of powder-coated aluminum posts and clear laminated safety glass—a combination that creates a bright and open look.
Using the same railing at different heights creates a cohesive look and enhances the building's architecture.
Balcony railing with an unobstructed view and fall protection
The deck is elevated above ground level and requires a safety-rated railing. Forma meets the fall height requirements of current building codes and serves as a safe deck railing without blocking the view of the landscape.
The posts are mounted on top of the decking using unobtrusive fasteners and follow the entire outline of the deck.
White railing with clear glass
The white-painted aluminum reflects light and complements the home’s architectural details. Combined with the clear glass, it creates a railing that is barely noticeable—yet clearly defines the boundary with the surroundings.
Balcony railing in the same style
The balcony above has also been fitted with the same type of railing. This creates a visual connection between the floors and reinforces the sense that the entire building is a cohesive whole, despite its different levels and functions.
Durable material for coastal environments
Forma is made of maintenance-free aluminum and can withstand rain, snow, UV light, and salty air—making it well-suited for coastal locations. Stainless steel clamps hold the glass in place.
A subtle boundary that doesn't block the view
This project demonstrates how a railing can be both unobtrusive and functional. The white color creates a contrast against the dark facade, while the glass allows the view of the mountains and fjord to take center stage.
